Outlook: Solid Republican

November 8, 2006 Update:

Election Results

As the Crystal Ball predicted, Republican Trent Lott was re-elected over Democrat Erik Fleming with 64% of the vote.

Update:

On June 27th Democrats chose State Rep. Erik Fleming in a 2-to-1 primary landslide to face Sen. Trent Lott in November. It’s the last election Fleming will win in 2006.

Background

Republican Senator Trent Lott has decided to run again, and the former Senate Majority Leader will win his fourth term handily.

By the way, his new book, Herding Cats, is several cuts above the usual Congressional memoir. It is a good read for any political junkie, and not just because of Lott’s improbable fall from grace.
