Winter 2009 and looking ahead
On February 17th a panel of U.Va. alumni, many former Sabato students, who currently work on Capitol Hill participated in a student-focused discussion entitled “Hoos on the Hill” to share experiences and insights on the practicalities and possibilities of careers in politics.
On March 9th at the University bookstore, GQ Magazine political correspondent and author, Robert Draper, discussed his recent book, Dead Certain: The Presidency of George W. Bush. The work is widely acclaimed for its up-close portrayal of the 43rd president thanks to the unusually close access Draper maintained during Bush’s two terms.
In anticipation of the release this spring of his newest book, The Year of Obama: How Barack Obama Won the White House, Larry Sabato will be joined on March 17th at 5:30 pm at the U.Va. Special Collections Library by co-authors Alan Abramowitz, Rhodes Cook, and Diana Owen to discuss the historic presidential election of 2008. The panel will also look at present-day politics and discuss what to expect from President Obama’s first year in office. Visit the Center's website for an updated list of this year's programming.
