Since 1998, the annual conferences of the Virginia Political History Project bring together friends, family, political professionals, legislators, and the public in a continuing effort to preserve an oral history of modern Virginia politics. In partnership with the Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service, the University of Virginia Center for Politics has examined the administrations of Virginia's recent former governors and other high-ranking elected officials, and explored the dynamics of various institutions of Virginia government. This year, we turn our attention to the women who have had a significant impact on the politics and governance of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
