Since 1998, the annual Center for Politics' Virginia Political History Project has brought together friends, family, political professionals, legislators, and the public in a continuing effort to preserve an oral history of modern Virginia politics. In partnership with the Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service, this project has examined the administrations of Virginia's more recent, former governors and other high-ranking elected officials, as well as explored the dynamics of various institutions of Virginia government.
The Center for Politics kicked off its tenth anniversary with the 2007 Virginia Political History Project, titled "A Decade of Political Change." The event consisted of three panel discussions that focused on the many important political events and issues that have shaped the Commonwealth since the founding of the Center one decade ago. The conference panelists included past and present members of the General Assembly and governors' administrations, Virginia academics, political experts and strategists and members of the press.
