Center for Politics Student Internship Program

Student Opportunities

Applications for internships at the Center for Politics are accepted on a rolling basis. However, students should use following guidelines to ensure the best placement:

To apply for a fall internship, applications should be received no later than May 1st. (Note: To receive course credit for the fall internship students must also be accepted for enrollment in PLAP 3370.)

To apply for a spring internship, applications should be received no later than November 1st.

To apply for a summer internship, applications should be received no later than April 15th.

Spring and summer internships at the University of Virginia Center for Politics are unpaid and no course credits are offered. An internship at the Center for Politics offers students the opportunity to gain practical business and political experience. Spring and summer internship applications MAY BE accepted after the deadline provided there is space remaining. Students completing internships during the fall semester receive course credit IF enrolled in Professor Larry Sabato’s PLAP 3370. PLAP 3370 is only offered during the fall semester and requires instructor permission for enrollment. All intern applicants (regardless of term) are required to submit the following application. Completing this application DOES NOT constitute automatic enrollment in PLAP 3370. You will be informed of your enrollment status in PLAP 3370 after submitting the application.
