Washington (08) House 2010

Crystal Ball Outlook: Leans R

Democratic candidate: Suzanne DelBene, Microsoft Executive

Republican candidate: Dave Reichert, Incumbent

Recent updates from the Crystal Ball

Background:

Republican incumbent Dave Reichert is running for his fourth term representing Washington’s 8th Congressional district and he faces opponents from both parties in the running for the August 17th primary.  His Republican challenger for the party’s nomination is ex-Issaquah Regional GOP chair Ernest Huber.  His Democratic opponents are former Microsoft executive Suzan DelBene, businessman/activist Tom Cramer, 2008 candidate Boleslaw (John) Orlinski, 2008 candidate Keith Arnold, and Tom Dillon

The 8th Congressional district is a swing district, but Reichert has his party’s strong support as well as a financial advantage over his opponents.  Also, his liberal positions on many environmental issues may attract some voters.  Even though Reichert has the difficult task of defending his seat and voting record as an incumbent, for now this race leans Republican.
