6:21 PM Dec 9th: Sen. Joe Manchin(D-WV) plans to take no chances for his ’12 reelection. He was only D to vote against ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ repeal.

1:08 PM Dec 10th: New polls on tax deal & deficit: Nothing’s changed. Americans still enthusiastic about ‘hot fudge sundae diet’–no pain, all poundage gain.

7:49 PM Dec 12th: Excellent ’60 Mins’ on Boehner. Had no idea he cried so much. Unusual for man his age. Most of us male boomers were taught never to do it.

7:53 PM Dec 12th: I still recall my father’s disappointment when I fell off my bicycle & cried. I was 5 or 6. Only saw Dad tear up 2X in his life & no crying.

7:55 PM Dec 12th: Wonder how, if at all, Boehner’s propensity to cry will play politically. Many older men won’t like it. Many women will, I suspect.

7:56 PM Dec 12th: Bloomberg on POTUS run (MTP): “No way, no how.” And he’ll turn on a dime if events conspire to give him a real shot. Obama did.

12:40 PM Dec 14th: Based on near-unanimous oppo from every conceivable R professional source I’ve read/talked to, hard to see how Steele wins 2nd term.

12:42 PM Dec 14th: The stories they tell! Some of which haven’t been in press…Steele is a v. nice fellow in my experience, but totally out of depth.

1:06 PM Dec 14th: No surprise–Census says 3 USA counties w/ highest median household income are all in NoVa: Falls Church, Fairfax, Loudoun.

1:08 PM Dec 14th: I’ve watched them grow from spots in road & cow pastures 50 yrs ago to gargantuan metro area. Falls Church: $113,313, up 17% from ’00.

1:10 PM Dec 14th: All voted heavily Obama in ’08 but won’t be as easy 2nd time around unless economy surges or GOP goofs w/ nominee.

1:13 PM Dec 14th: Meanwhile poor whites, as opposed to rich cousins, have moved sharply GOP. Ex: Lowest median US income, Owsley County,KY. McCain got 76%.
