The 2008 Electoral College Road Map
Introduction | View All States New HampshireOutlook: Toss Up
4 Electoral Votes (4 in 2000) Traditionally one of the most important states in picking each party’s candidates, New Hampshire has been a swing state in general elections too, favoring George W. Bush in 2000 but flip-flopping to support John Kerry in 2004. Catching up with the rest of New England, the state has been trending Blue as of late, as both of its congressional seats were won by Democratic challengers in 2006. The governor and both chambers in the state Legislature are also Democratic now, though both Senate seats are held by Republicans. New Hampshire has been good to John McCain in both his presidential bids, however, and it is a notoriously hard state to read. |
