Outlook: Solid Republican

November 8, 2006 Update:

As the Crystal Ball predicted, Republican Kay Bailey Hutchison won re-election over Democrat Barbara Ann Radnofslywith 62% of the vote.

July 1, 2006 Update:

Barbara Ann Radnofsky did win the Democratic primary, but Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison will win the general in a massive landslide.

Background

This would have been a barn burner of a race had two-term Republican Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison decided to run against Governor Rick Perry in the GOP primary in 2006. But, she has taken the safe route, understandably so, and declared her intentions to run for Senate reelection. For this contest, that is all she wrote.

Having received an endorsement from the state party chair Charles Soetching, it looks like Houston attorney Barbara Ann Radnofsky will be the Democratic nominee, but she will be lucky to get 35 percent of the statewide vote.
