Nevada

Outlook: Solid Republican

November 8, 2006 Update:

As the Crystal Ball predicted, Sen. John Ensign (R) won reelection over Jack Carter (D) with 55% of the vote.

Republican Senator John Ensign will not have to break a sweat in the hot Nevada desert. His former opponent and present friend, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D), won’t openly endorse Ensign, but won’t spend time and money trying to beat him either.

Ensign’s Democratic opponent is none other than Jack Carter, the son of former President Jimmy Carter. But the elder Carter could not carry Nevada in 1976 as a winning presidential candidate, and it is highly doubtful that his son will be able to do what the father could not.
